Your Input Needed-Take the Brain Gain Survey!

The City of Norfolk has partnered with the Greater Norfolk Corporation, an organization of 125 business leaders, to launch the Brain Gain Survey.  The survey asks young professionals (this means you!) about their perceptions of the Hampton Roads area and what would make it a more attractive place to live.

In a fast-paced knowledge based economy, the ability to attract young entrepreneurs and professionals is paramount for cities that desire economic prosperity in this new era. The City strives to create an attractive environment for young entrepreneurs to establish the next generation of businesses. It also aims to attract and retain talented young professionals. The feedback from the survey will drive a community action plan to improve Norfolk's and the region's ability to attract and retain young professionals.

The survey is available at generationnorfolk.com.

Musical Chairs!

You’ve been going gang-busters on the Projects Committee for the last two years ensuring the Food Bank and Red Cross receive their hefty donations from DT100. Maybe you’ve smiled, networked and organized logistics over the last three years planning the Holiday Hop, Admirals games, and beer tastings to enhance the DT100 members’ social outings.

Time for a change? Membership Chair Melissa Taylor says it’s not a complicated process if members feel the need to try something new. She’ll monitor any request for a change to make sure committees have sufficient numbers to accomplish their tasks and work to help keep members engaged in DT100 activities.

Below is a refresher of what committees exist, their Chair information and meeting times. To inquire about shifting to a new role within DT100, contact Melissa Taylor directly.

Hip Huggin Tip

Document Shredding Available to Norfolk Residents

With tax season underway, many take the opportunity to clean out files and folders accumulating dated material, some of which you may want to dispose of safe from other eyes. Norfolk residents can now have their sensitive paper documents shredded by City of Norfolk staff.

This free service, which is accessible 24 hours a day/7 days a week, is available at the Division of Towing and Recovery, located at 1195 Lance Road. Residents bringing in 100 pages or less can have their documents shredded while they wait.  A drop off service is provided for those bringing in a shopping bag full or less. Call 441-2233 to learn more.
