Monticello Avenue

Effective Monday, June 29th, civil work and installation of the light rail track and OCS foundations will begin on Monticello Avenue. This work will be done in three phases. The first phase will be from City Hall Avenue to Market Street. The second phase will be from Market Street to Freemason Street and the third phase will be from Freemason Street to Charlotte Street. All three phases will be complete by November 5th.

To facilitate this construction, during the first phase, Monticello Avenue will become one-way, northbound from City Hall Avenue to Market Street.

Vehicular access to all driveways will be maintained throughout the construction. Pedestrian access on the east side of Monticello Avenue. will not be affected and valet service will be maintained at the entrance to MacArthur Center.

Plume Street

Effective Tuesday, June 30th, light rail construction will begin on Plume Street, just west of the Norfolk Southern garage entrance. To accommodate this work, Plume Street will become one-way west bound from St. Paul’s Boulevard to Bank Street. This traffic pattern will be in effect for the next several months.

Vehicular access to driveways and drive thru passage ways will be maintained throughout construction. The south sidewalk will be closed from west of the Norfolk Southern garage entrance to Commercial Place.

All on-street parking between St. Paul’s Boulevard and Bank Street will be removed.

 

Duke Street/Bute Street Intersection

The intersection will remain partially closed for another week. Beginning Tuesday, June 30th, traffic travelling south on Duke Street will be able to make a right turn on to Bute Street. Northbound traffic on Duke Street will be detoured right at Freemason Street. With the exception of the right turn from Duke Street on to Bute, the intersection remains closed.
