Imperial Restaurant at the Pagoda

Since 1989 The Pagoda has been a Downtown waterfront landmark in the Freemason District and we are excited that soon we will once again have the opportunity to enjoy delicious food and drinks in this one-of-a-kind atmosphere with the opening of Imperial Restaurant.

Chef Phillip Craig Thomason, Freemason resident and owner of Downtown favorite Vintage Kitchen, will head up the new restaurant with an anticipated opening date around Labor Day.

In addition to a full-menu of what is sure to be an impressive slection based on Chef Thomason’s reputation and Cordon Blue training, the second floor roof-top bar will feature the region’s first dedicated champagne bar and its own separate menu. Enjoying a glass of bubbly at Imperial, with 360-degree views of the Elizabeth River, the Battleship Wisconsin and the city skyline is something to look forward to at the end of a hot summer.

Restaurant Week Survey

We just wrapped up July Restaurant Week and would like to take this opportunity to send out a survey to get feedback and opinions about this long running event. Whether you dined out during Restaurant Week or not, please take just a few minutes to respond to this survey so we can make informed decisions when deciding on new format ideas and price points.

Now Open!

The Prince Ink Co.

Prince Ink celebrates their official Grand Opening on Friday, July 29th at 433 Granby Street. The business is the third to open through our Vibrant Spaces incentive program. Prince Ink’s move to Granby Street has allowed them to expand production of their custom screen print business and a new retail section offers their products for sale in addition to carefully curated goods crafted by other local, regional and national artists.

Stop by on Friday to welcome Prince Ink to the neighborhood and check out their 100-year old letterpress, impressive retail offerings, free prints and a live painting by Igor Acord, a Virginia Beach sign artist. Field Guide will also have drinks specials in honor of the occasion.

Grace O’Malley’s Irish Pub and Restaurant

We have all been watching the progress and eagerly anticipated the doors opening for Grace O’Malley’s at 211 Granby Street so we could have a chance to sit at the authentic handcrafted mahogany bar shipped straight from Ireland and enjoy a pint and some traditional Irish fare. The time has come! They officially opened on July 26th and there is already word on the street about their outstanding curry chips.

Grace O’Malley’s is also a Vibrant Spaces grant recipient and is owned by Martin and Christy Marron who promise great food, great music and great craic for all.

Remote Control Sailboats for Rent on the Hague

Until now, if you wanted to rent a remote control sailboat in a beautiful setting you would have to make the trip to Central Park in New York City or go even further to Paris. But thanks to a new business, SailBOT757, you can rent a wind driven remote control sailboat on the Hague right across from the Chrysler Museum of Art. They are open Thursday – Sunday from 11am – 6pm and it’s a unique and fun office escape or family weekend activity.  No experience necessary.
