Let’s Lace Up for National Walking Day

Dominion Enterprises invites all Downtown workers and residents to join them in celebrating National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 5th. National Walking Day is sponsored by the American Heart Association and is a great way to remind people about the health benefits of simply taking a walk. Plan to grab some friends and meet at MacArthur Square at 11:45am and you can choose either a 1.5 mile or 3 mile route.  And don’t just walk on National Walking Day, make it a healthy habit to get out during the work day to enjoy the Downtown sights and sounds on a regular basis. Check out our Healthy Downtown website and find 1 mile, 3K and 8K running/walking routes, healthy events, a blog and more to keep you motivated.

TGIF - Wine Tastings at Tinto Norfolk Every Friday

Tinto Wine and Cheese, located on the ground floor of the Dominion Tower building, is now hosting themed wine tastings all day every Friday. If you are already a fan, you know this little Downtown gem is an absolutely gorgeous setting to be introduced to new varietals that will get you out of your wine rut. Their wines are all priced from $10 to $35 and they showcase small production, family owned wineries from around the world.  They validate parking, or you can just take a stroll from your office with co-workers to enjoy a tasting of truly unique wines. They offer a selection of gourmet cheese and charcuterie, as well as daily made artisanal paninis for the lunch crowd.

The Norfolk Street Choir Providing Community and Opportunity

Established in October 2016, The Norfolk Street Choir is a program of the Freemason Street Baptist Church that provides community and opportunity for Norfolk’s impoverished population through participation in group singing. But the program is so much more than just singing. The choir came together after many months of research, planning and consulting with the City of Norfolk Office to End Homelessness. The choir meets once a week with an average of 30 participants that benefit from encouraging and inspiring one another and their listeners. Community support is essential to the success of the program and California Pizza Kitchen, the Governor’s School for the Arts and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra are regularly involved. See them in action and get inspired at their final performance of the season, City Voices, on April 23rd at 3pm at the Freemason Street Baptist Church.
