In addition to the opening launch event and Rooftop Rendezvous, your interns can select 3 out of 7 events from June 17 – August 5:

  • Glass Blowing
  • Green Screen Video Application
  • Baseball at Harbor Park
  • Bike and lunch at Pagoda
  • Sail Nauticus
  • Kayak
  • Battleship Wisconsin down under tour

Downtown Food Truck Update

For 2015, the City has created food truck zones that approved food trucks can choose to come out to on a day to day basis. So a food truck could choose to be at MacArthur Square on a Wednesday and that same truck could go to the Arts District on Thursday.
2015 Downtown Food Truck Zones:

•    100 block of Bank Street at MacArthur Square
•    800 block of Front Street at Fort Norfolk
•    800 block of Woodis Avenue at Fort Norfolk
•    700 block of Granby Street in the Arts District

Since there are no assigned locations or hours, the best way to find out where and when your favorite truck will be downtown is to follow them on social media. DNC and the City will also post locations whenever we can.

Here is a list of participating trucks with links if available:

JuiceBar 80/20 Brings Healthy Options Downtown

JuiceBar 80/20 lives by the universal 80/20 law of balance. Instead of dieting or counting calories, you adopt a lifestyle which maintains if you eat three square meals a day, three of those meals every week are your 20 percent reasonable cheat meals.

Bathing suit season is here so now is the perfect time to incorporate the 80/20 rule to your lifestyle. Some of the best JuiceBar juices for weight loss and maintaining a balanced nutrition are Jump Start and Ginger Snap. There are many to choose from and you can also create your own.

Did you know that JuiceBar offers free delivery to downtown offices? Just call 351-6201 or click here to order from their online “Mobile Mini-Bar”. They also have free WiFi and special lunch combos.

Downtown Norfolk Strategic Plan Update

The Downtown Norfolk Council’s strategic plan is almost complete. We recently held two community meetings to present the results gathered from earlier open house sessions, focus group meetings and an online survey. More than 750 stakeholders participated over the last few months. Feedback from these outreach efforts will be directly incorporated into the planning framework and action plan. Top priorities include activating the waterfront, attracting new services and amenities downtown, making downtown more bike and pedestrian friendly and activating Granby Street with vibrant, unique businesses. The final plan will be unveiled in July and with it, new priorities and focus for the Downtown Norfolk Council and its civic partners. We look forward to a plan that guides downtown to an exciting, active and diverse future.
