Cleaning  Up  After Your Pet Is the Right Thing To Do.
And It’s the Law.*

With the recent residential boom in Downtown, we also have an increase of furry friends in the Downtown area. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind the community about the Norfolk City Code regarding canine litter and what DNC is doing to assist pet owners in picking up after their pets.

Norfolk City Code Section 6.1-72 specifies an owner, or person in control, of any animal must clean up after their pet and dispose of the defecated matter in a proper waste receptacle.

DNC has bright yellow “See Spot” dog bag dispensers strategically located on trashcans throughout Downtown. We also have free bag dispensers that attach to a leash available that Ambassadors often have on hand to distribute to pet owners. If you are interested in a free leash bag dispenser, please email jkliner@downtownnorfolk.org

Thank you for helping us continue to keep Downtown friendly, safe and spotless.

Google Names Norfolk as Virginia’s 2015 eCITY

Downtown Norfolk is proud to be a part of the city that Google has named as its 2015 eCity for Virginia.

The award recognizes cities with strong online business communities – businesses that use the web to find new customers, connect with existing clients and fuel their local economies.

Many of our Downtown businesses  have definitely contributed to Norfolk receiving this honor.

You can check out all of the other cities selected here.

Farewell to Public Service Ambassador Val!

Since 2000, Public Service Ambassador Valerie Kenny has been a member of the DNC team and has played an important role in the success of the ambassador program.

Whether she was driving F.R.E.D, greeting visitors from a cruise ship or providing directions to a garage or restaurant, Val was always ready to help with a big smile and positive attitude.

After 15 years with the DNC, we wish Val the best with her retirement and a special thank you for her service to the Downtown community.

Thank you to our Holidays in the City Sponsors!

We are coming to the close of another fabulous six weeks of holiday celebration and it would not have been possible without our generous sponsors!
