Matthew Bernier, artist and Associate Professor at EVMS, John Tobin, master ceramicist and art teacher, and photographer Dave Chance began to keep Jean company by joining her for Wednesday night dinners. Soon, Carolyn Flowers, an artist and former teacher joined them. The meals turned gourmet, wines became select and artists from Portsmouth, Virginia Beach and Norfolk were invited to attend. The group, named after Gertrude Stein, now consists of 16 who meet in the Portsmouth home for weekly fun. This will be their second exhibition. "Art isn't everything. It's just about everything." Gertrude Stein Gallery hrs: Monday-Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm (Sundays see security)
