With the growing popularity of arts and culture districts and great momentum behind Virginia Beach’s ViBe Creative District and Norfolk’s NEON District, our May Member Briefing will highlight several exciting developments and bring you updates from each emerging neighborhood. An anchor institution in NEON, The Chrysler Museum of Art will play host to the internationally-known Glass Arts Society Conference in June 2017.
Join us on May 3 in the Kaufman Theater at the Chrysler Museum of Art to learn more about the museum’s role as an innovator in the glass field and how it is shaping Norfolk’s arts community. For the first time ever, the conference will bring more than a thousand glass artists and collectors to Norfolk for the conference entitled, Reflections from the Edge: Glass Art and Performance. The program will also include updates on other significant projects in the NEON District.
Another cultural asset in the Hampton Roads area is the ViBe Creative District, with the Museum of Contemporary Art and a growing number of artisan and creative businesses in the district. Kate Pitman, executive director for the ViBe, joins us to describe the vision for the neighborhood and how it is leading the way in cultural innovation for Virginia Beach.
