Downtown Norfolk Celebrates Downtown Workers in May
Appreciation is a wonderful thing.
Downtown employees, we appreciate you. And to prove it, we've set up a whole week of awesome activities, including a chance to win some cash! Be sure to follow us on social media and stay subscribed to our newsletter for more information on special activities, including a free Downtown Happy Hour Zumba class, free ice cream day, and a special Downtown-themed Trivia night.

ALL WEEK LONG: RETURN OF THE POST-IT WAR
One, two, three, four; we declare a POST-IT WAR! Raid your office supply closet for all the Post-Its you can find, put together an awesome decoration, snap a picture (or video), & post it to Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook with the tag #DNPostItWars for you chance to win cash prizes!
You can enter this contest any time during the week, but entries must be in by noon on Friday, May 17. The winner will be announced at the end of the day. Entries will be judged on creativity, craftsmanship, visual impact, and social engagement.
The first place winner (or team) will get $500 in cash; second place will receive $250; and third place will walk away with $100. And of course, all will win bragging rights.

MONDAY: DOWNTOWN NORFOLK PETTING ZOO
11am-1pm at MacArthur Green
Monday got you feeling a little "meh?" Don't worry, we've got just the cure for those Monday blues! Join us for a furry, fuzzy, and downright adorable petting zoo at MacArthur Green as we kick off Employee Appreciation Week in the most paw-some way possible. Our fluffy friends are sure to turn your Monday frowns upside down.
TUESDAY: 80'S THEMED ZUMBA AND HAPPY HOUR
5:30pm at MacArthur Center
Throw on those leg warmers, tease up your hair, and get ready to unleash your inner Jane Fonda because we're taking it back to the raddest decade of them all for this Downtown Happy Hour Boot Camp! Join us for an electrifying 80s-themed Zumba class with the one-and-only Morgan Brown. First we'll sweat to the beat of your favorite 80s hits, then head over to Chicho's for a celebratory slice. Each participant will get their first drink on DNC.
WEDNESDAY: DOWNTOWN-THEMED TRIVIA NIGHT
6pm doors; 7pm trivia at The Stockpot Norfolk
Indulge in a mid-week treat served with a side friendly competition at The Stockpot Norfolk for a special edition of Trivia Night, Downtown Norfolk style! Test your knowledge of local landmarks, noteworthy history, and more with Bar Trivia LIVE while enjoying enticing specials from the Trivia Night menu. Expect extra special prizes including Downtown Norfolk swag, bonus gift cards to The Stockpot Norfolk, and of course, the ultimate reward: bragging rights! It's a celebration of our Downtown workforce – come join the fun and let's make Wednesday unforgettable! Doors open at 6pm and questions start at 7pm.
THURSDAY: ICE CREAM BREAK
Noon-2pm @ MacArthur Green
We all scream for ice cream — and we scream even louder when it's free! Swing by MacArthur Center Green, and the first 500 people will get a ticket for a free treat (250 will receive a free cone from Mr. Softee and 250 will receive a free treat from Kona Ice). Once the free tickets are gone, both Mr. Softee and Kona Ice will still be available for ice cream sales, so everyone can get in on the frozen fun.
Plus, stick around, because it's a party! We'll have some good tunes, games for some friendly competition against your rival coworkers and Downtowners, and special craft activities from Studio Kuumba and 757 Creative Reuse Center.
FRIDAY: BIKE TO WORK DAY & GLOW RIDE
7am-9am at various locations & 8pm at The Plot
Power through your commute with us! Cruise through one or all eight pit stop locations in Downtown from 7am-9am for snacks, bike swag, good vibes and more. Then, when the workday is done, put on your best glow-in-the-dark gear and grab your bike for the one and only nighttime ride in the NEON District! Meet at 8pm at The Plot, grab your free Bike Month shirt, and get ready to ride!
