The Memorial, conceived by Joseph A. Jordan Jr., former Norfolk Councilman and General District Court Judge, made of granite and standing 83 feet high, is inscribed with quotations of Dr. King, and contains a fountain at its base. The Memorial serves as a constant reminder of the importance of including all citizens in the democratic process and the benefits derived from doing so.
