The staff of the Downtown Improvement District constantly strives to make Downtown the finest destination it can be. When we receive recognition for a job-well-done from professionals and peer groups, it tells us that we are making a real difference. Here are some of our accolades.
2016 - DNC is recognized by the International Downtown Association for its Vibrant Spaces program.
2015 - DNC is recognized by the International Downtown Association for its Park Happy program.
2017 - 2007 - Holidays In The City was named as one of the 'Top 20 Events in the Southeast' by the Southeast Tourism Society for 10 consecutive years.
2009 - Downtown Norfolk Council receives an Award of Distinction from the Virginia Downtown Development Association for the Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week campaign.
2009 - Downtown Norfolk Council receives an Award of Distinction from the International Downtown Association for the Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week campaign.
2009 - Silver ADDY Award for Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week Rack Card campaign.
2009 - Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week print campaign was recognized as "Best in Category" by the Virginia Press Association.
2008 - ALLI award for the creation of the regional website your757.com.
2008 – Downtown Norfolk Council receives three 2008 ADDY Awards for the advertising campaign promoting Downtown. The award-winning categories include Black & White Newspaper Campaign, Television Campaign and 15-second Television spot.
2007 – Silver ADDY Award for Downtown Norfolk Construction Mitigation Campaign from the Ad Club of Hampton Roads and AIGA.
2006 – Honorable Mention Pinnacle Award for Community Awareness Program from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
2004 – An Award of Merit was presented to the Downtown Norfolk Council by the International Downtown Association for the "Only Downtown" marketing campaign.
2003 – On-going Program of the Year for the DNC Public Safety Ambassador program by the Virginia Governors Conference on Travel and Tourism.
2002 – Downtown Norfolk Council and Tidewater Community College received an Award of Merit from the International Downtown Association for the successful creation of an urban community college campus.
2000 – The Private Industry Award presented to the Downtown Improvement District by the Norfolk Crime Prevention Coalition.
2000 – Award of Excellence presented to the Downtown Improvement District for Environmental Stewardship by the Norfolk Environmental Commission.
2000 – Outstanding Achievement Award presented to the Clean Team Ambassadors by Applied Sweepers for the best preventative maintenance program in the country.
