Downtown Norfolk Council is committed to sharing the latest information on infrastructure investments and construction projects taking place throughout downtown. In partnership with the City of Norfolk, DNC gathers updates on road and sidewalk improvements that may affect businesses, residents, and visitors. NEON Streetscape

Granby Street has long been a cornerstone of Norfolk, with the NEON District at the heart of the city’s creative revival. The NEON District Streetscape Project will enhance the area through lasting infrastructure improvements, new technology, and a better experience for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Norfolk Casino & Resort Hotel

The resort will be a best-in-class casino entertainment destination on the Norfolk waterfront – a powerful new tourism draw for the Norfolk community, and an exciting new entertainment experience for residents throughout this region.

St. Paul's Transformation

The transformation of Tidewater Gardens, the new Kindred community, is scheduled to be completed by 2026. The revitalized community will feature 714 contemporary compatible multi-family apartments and townhomes spread over 13 blocks.

Chrysler Hall Renovation

For more than half a century, Chrysler Hall has been the cultural heartbeat of Norfolk, where music, theater, and community come together. As performance evolves, so must the stage- modern audiences and artists require contemporary amenities. This renovation marks a pivotal moment, uniting the Chrysler’s historic legacy with a bold, modern future for live performance.

Scope Arena Renovation

For decades, Scope Arena has been a cornerstone of Norfolk, bringing the community and tourists together through sports, concerts, and shared excitement. As live entertainment and athletics evolve, the venue must adapt to meet modern expectations for performance, capacity, comfort, and technology. This renovation will reimagine Scope Arena as a premier, future-forward destination, strengthening its role as a regional hub for entertainment and sport.

Assembly Phase II

Assembly is a historic adaptive reuse project, restoring three Downtown Norfolk buildings to their original beauty while giving them new life as a modern office and community hub, all connected together inside. Assembly is purpose-built to host a curated community of like-minded professionals, leading creative and technology companies, aspiring startups, and talented freelancers all sharing energy, inspiration, and resources.

Chrysler Museum - Perry Glass Studio

Expansion of the Chrysler Museum Perry Glass Studio represents an exciting future for the Museum and recognition of the distinguished international reputation of the glass art-making program. The renovation and new addition puts the process on display, featuring the history of glass as an artistic medium. The program includes a theater-style performance hot shop, studios, gallery, classrooms, event space, retail space, catering kitchen, and roof terrace. It is a bold extension of the Museum and its educational programs.

FUSION at NEON

Recently Complete

Fusion @ NEON is a five-story residential complex with ground floor parking, walk-up townhouse-style apartments and co-working space on the first floor and one, two and three bedroom apartments on floors two through five. The multifamily dwelling is at the crossroads of the NEON District, a block from Granby Street and steps away from cultural institutions Chrysler Museum of Art and d'Art Center.

Selden Market Renovation

Renovations include new exterior and interior signage, custom-built vendor booth setups for pop-up businesses, an expanded community kitchen, and updated restrooms. Additionally, the refreshed space ensures a more welcoming atmosphere that better supports community events and a rotating lineup of the city’s up-and-coming retail and food concepts.

Gravity on 400

Recently Complete

The sister development to the Icon residential tower, Gravity 400 is a six-story luxury building along Waterside Drive. A Marathon Development project, Gravity moved in first tenants in fall 2024. The 273-unit building features extensive amenities and green space for residents in a prime downtown corridor close to the waterfront, Elizabeth River Trail and Main Street shops and businesses.
