Join us for an author's talk, reading, and book signing with Norfolk based author and photographer Jayme Sojourn Drew. Northern Lights, Northern Lives has been 3+ years in the making after 20,000 miles of travel and 200 gender diverse stories on the road between Virginia and Alaska. The book itself is a collection of 50 portraits and essays told through the lens of gender in Alaska and Yukon. The author’s journeys into a range of rural and urban northern communities connect each story together.
Bring your curious questions and thoughts on creative advocacy, gender and anything that intersects with gender and queerness. Bringing visibility to all our stories humanizes everyone’s journey in powerful ways.
This is the first time books will be on sale in person, along with a Behind the Lens zine taking a deeper look at the broader All the Genders Photo Project behind this book. Thank you for joining us on these journeys!
