Get the goblins and muster the monsters: The Tide Light Rail is set for a spooktacular trip.
Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) welcomes costumed children and their parents aboard the “Treats on Tracks” train Thursday, Oct. 29. The decorated train leaves Newtown Road Station at 5:20 p.m. for a round-trip adventure.
Along the route, a different costumed character will board at each station with treats for kids. The train will travel to EVMC/Fort Norfolk Station before making the return trip to Newtown Road Station.
It’s a fun and convenient way to attend Norfolk Police Department’s annual Trunk or Treat at Scope Plaza in downtown Norfolk from 6 to 8 p.m. – just a short walk from Monticello Station, even in costume.
Free parking is available at Newtown Road. Riders may also join the festivities at any Tide station. Check the light rail schedule with the 5:20 p.m. departure from Newtown Road to plan your ride.
A transit ticket is required. Fares are $2 each way, and children ride free with a fare-paying adult.
Pay ahead with HRT’s GoMobile app for quick boarding or buy a ticket from a Ticket Vending Machine at any station. Machines accept coins, bills, credit cards and debit cards. Select “Single Ticket Light Rail,” then scan the ticket at a platform validator before boarding.
