Hampton Roads Transit is giving the community an opportunity to try transit for free. On Thursday, June 19, all buses, light rail, ferry, Paratransit, and OnDemand Ridesharing services will be free in commemoration of Juneteenth, which is recognized as a state and federal holiday. It’s one of four free fare days offered by HRT throughout the year, along with Election Day in November, Transit Equity Day in February, and Earth Day in April.
