On Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. EST, the MacArthur Memorial will present a free virtual lecture by Steve Vogel on his latest publication, A Task Force Called Faith: The Untold Story of the U.S. Army Soldiers Who Fought for Survival at Chosin Reservoir―and Honor Back Home.
Mr. Vogel will discuss the little-known US Army unit of 2,300, known as Task Force Faith, who suffered false accusations of cowardice following the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir while under the command of Gen. Douglas MacArthur during the Korean War, and their continued fight for recognition for their role during the battle at “Frozen Chosin 75 years later.
Steve Vogel is a veteran journalist who reported for The Washington Post for more than two decades, writing extensively about military affairs. His reporting about the war in Afghanistan was part of a package of Washington Post stories selected as a finalist for the 2002 Pulitzer Prize. Vogel covered the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, the wars in Iraq, and U.S. military operations in Rwanda, Somalia, and the Balkans. His previous books include Betrayal in Berlin, Through the Perilous Fight, and The Pentagon.
This virtual presentation will include a Q&A session. This event is free and open to the public.
