The Quincy Institute’s Veterans in Foreign Policy Initiative is honored to host the premiere screening of The Weight: Veterans on Fighting America’s Foreign Wars at the MacArthur Memorial, in partnership with the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation.

A panel discussion will follow featuring Major General Joseph Reynes, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), the Executive Director of the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation, and two veterans featured in the documentary, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Nelson, U.S. Army Special Forces (Ret.), and former U.S. Army Captain Allison Jaslow. The discussion will be moderated by Adam Weinstein, director of the Veterans in Foreign Policy Initiative. The panel will explore the relationship between civilians, veterans, and the political leaders who make decisions about war, as well as the responsibilities the country assumes when it sends service members into conflict.

The screening will take place on Wednesday, August 19th at the MacArthur Memorial located at 198 Bank Street in downtown Norfolk. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. ET, and the approximately 30-minute documentary will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the discussion.
