Let's Get Spooky, Downtown Norfolk
There's something creepy in the air. Downtown's crawling with goblins and ghouls. Candy is literally everywhere. It must be time for Halloween!
Whether you are in it for the treats or you want to be a trickster, Downtown Norfolk is the place to be for Halloween fun. There's something to suit everybody's tastes, fiendish or friendly. Let Downtown Norfolk show you a hauntingly good time.
If you're in it for the Treats:
Start your Halloween weekend with fun for the whole family at Haunticus at Nauticus on Saturday from 10am-5pm! Let the kids wear their favorite costume, because children up to age twelve in costume get in for free. Once there, they can enjoy storytelling, crafts, face painting and more. One thing's for sure: there will be plenty of (not too) scary activities for everyone!
If you are a kid, or a kid at heart, Selden Market Trick or Treat on Saturday is right up your alley. If you show up in costume, you'll also get special treats from their unique and eclectic shops. While you're there, be sure to check out Velvet Witch (appropriate for the holiday), go by Doughminion Dounuts and Vessel Coffee to grab an awesome breakfast (or second breakfast...or lunch...really is there a bad time for a donut?), and get your craft on during the Hot Chocolate and Holiday Coasters event (featuring pumpkin spice hot chocolate)! And what kid (or kid at heart) can resist all the awesome stuff at POP Kids Store??
With all this fun, you're going to want a good photo. On Sunday, take your little monster (or princess or ghost or Storm Trooper, etc.) to the Live 360° Studio at MacArthur Center for Halloween Family Photos, Pet Photos and Pumpkin Pie Decorating. Family photos will be from 3pm-6pm & pet photos from 6:30pm-8:30pm (that's right, even Fido can get in on the Halloween fun!). Photos will be in front of a beautiful pumpkin patch backdrop.
One rule: no full facial masks or toy weapons, please.
On the big day itself, take the kids out to Chrysler Museum's Halloween Costume Bash, where the Museum's Gallery Hosts turn into living works of art! From 10am-4pm, you can tour the galleries on a scavenger hunt in search of these hosts. Find at least 5, and you'll get special prize! And stick around, because from 4pm-8pm your kids can trick or treat at the museum, enjoy lawn games and Halloween crafts, or go on a ghoulish gallery flashlight tour -- spooky!
If you're all about the Tricks:
For these events, you might want to leave the kiddos at home....
