Downtown 100 2021 Scholarship Information & Application
The Downtown 100 is a highly motivated group of 100 emerging leaders and young professionals, 40 years old and under, from Downtown Norfolk’s business, cultural and residential communities. They serve as ambassadors for the Downtown Norfolk Council and are committed to a dynamic, attractive and prosperous downtown.
The purpose of the Downtown 100 Scholarship is to offer financial assistance to graduating high school seniors enrolled in Norfolk Public Schools who have opted to attend a four-year college, university, or trade school in the Hampton Roads region.
This scholarship will be awarded to students who have made an impact in the local community and who are passionate about, and committed to Norfolk, the surrounding region, and its future growth.
About the Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded
Receipt of the application and required documentation will be acknowledged by the Chairperson of the Downtown 100
The recipient will be chosen by the Steering Committee Members of the Downtown 100
The recipient will be recognized at the Downtown 100 Annual Meeting in June
The award will be expended by a single payment made payable to the institution that the recipient chooses to attend
Requirements & Criteria
The applicant must be a current student in Norfolk Public Schools
The applicant must hold a current grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
A copy of the most recent transcript must be sent with the application
Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application -- one being from a member of the high school faculty (letters from relatives will not be accepted)
A copy of the application must be submitted to the school administrative personnel
The applicant should show involvement in community service throughout their high school career
