Open Mic Night

Where: Southern Eats
What: Southern Eats hosts their popular open mic night with live music provided by Unified Sounds.

Tales Aboard History
When:
Saturday, September 5 @ 1:30pm
Where: Aboard the American Rover
What: Get on board the American Rover for a fun and educational experience for the whole family. Professional tour guides from Norfolk Tour Company will provide narrated storytelling experiences during the cruise focusing on the industries, everyday lives, maritime activities, and historical events that took place in Downtown Norfolk, Downtown Portsmouth, and along the Elizabeth River. 

Grill Packs
When: September 4-7
Where: Freemason Abbey
What: Let Freemason Abbey help you cook out this Labor Day. For Labor Day Weekend only, Freemason Abbey is featuring exclusive grill packs built for two, four, or six people. The proteins are sold uncooked for you to enjoy on your grill at home!
The packs include: Ribs, Burgers, Salmon, Filet Mignon. You can also add some sides to your packs, including Chicken Salad, Potato Salad, and Kettle Chips. This feature is only available for purchase on Labor Day weekend and orders can be placed online or by phone at 622-3966.

Edvard Munch and the Cycle of Life Final Weekend
When: 
The exhibit closes on Sunday, September 6
Where: Chrysler Museum of Art
What: Edvard Munch and the Cycle of Life: Prints from the National Gallery of Art is the autobiographical cycle of images capturing how pain and healing are a part of life for Munch, who suffered an unusual amount of early trauma and vulnerability. See the iconic The Scream and more.

Hot Glass Short Session
When: 
September 5 & 6 every 15 minutes from 10:15am to 4:45pm
Where: The Chrysler Museum of Art Perry Glass Studio
What: Create your own glass object! Upon arrival to the Glass Studio, choose an object to make (blown ornament, fairy orb, sculpted heart or starfish) and your what colors you want to use. Then, with the instructor’s help, you will apply colorful crushed glass to molten clear glass and together sculpt and form your very own piece of glass art!

Final Week of From Corsets to of Crinoline: Unmentionables and the Road to Women’s Suffrage
When:  The exhibit closes on Saturday, September 5. Tours are by appointment only at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, so be sure to call 623-9814 to make a reservation.
Where: Hunter House Victorian Museum
What: Discover how the changes in women’s undergarments paralleled the rise of social reform and women’s rights. Includes items in both the Hunter Family and private lender collections.
