As a salute to the men and women of the Armed Forces this holiday season, the MacArthur Memorial in downtown Norfolk will host a family friendly program, Holiday Cards for Veterans, November 21st to December 15th, 2023.
During this period, museum visitors are invited to create a card to send to a veteran. The Memorial will provide all supplies and the cards will be delivered to Hampton Roads-area veterans hospitals before Christmas Day. The Memorial will also have a make-and-take origami paper crane-making activity for visitors. Supplies will be available each day in the MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center during the normal opening hours of Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Participation is free.
About The MacArthur Memorial: The MacArthur Memorial was founded in 1964 as a museum and archive dedicated to the life and times of General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, who is buried in the Memorial’s rotunda with his wife Jean. The City of Norfolk operates the Memorial in close partnership with the nonprofit General Douglas MacArthur Foundation. It averages over 40,000 visitors per year and is open free of charge.
