Local artist Jean Peacock’s latest exhibition, “The Street Where I Live” opens in Norfolk Arts’ Offsite Gallery at MacArthur Center with a reception on February 4, from 5pm-7pm. Save the date: February 26, 12-2pm, for “Conversation with the Artist”. The events and gallery are free and open to the public.

Through a series of paintings created during the pandemic, Jean Peacock expresses the joy and love of places lived, and people and things most cherished. With her four-legged companions faithfully by her side, now, more than ever, she discovered contentment in areas of home often taken for granted. A seat at the piano and books on the nightstand were viewed with delight. The backyard soon became her retreat. Alas, there was time to paint!

Peacock received art instruction at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris, France; Hollins University, Roanoke, VA; The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Tidewater Community College; Virginia Commonwealth University; Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, Washington, D.C. and The Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT.
