Top Tips for Getting Around Downtown 


Advice and Info from locals for your best visit 

Downtown Parking Garages

Here’s a quick rundown and locations. 

Rates are posted at the entrance to each facility. If you are coming down for a special event, have some cash on hand just in case the garage is collect on entry. Usually $5. 

Bank Street and Charlotte Street Garages close to Scope, Chrysler Hall, Virginia Arts Festival, Perry Pavilion, Norva, and Buffalo Wild Wings. 

Boush Street Garage entrance is on City Hall Avenue. Close to Nauticus and The Wisconsin, Glass Light Hotel, Grace O’Malley’s, Moe’s and Uncle Al’s. 

Dominion Tower Garage close to the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside hotel and a quick waterfront walk to Town Point Park and Waterside District. 

Fountain Park Garage adorned with a beautiful military themed mural. Close to MacArthur Memorial, MacArthur Square, the Icon Building, and Gourmet Gang. 

Freemason Street Garage close to Freemason Abbey, Epworth Methodist Church, Lamia’s Crepes, Major Phillie Cheesesteaks and Grilled Cheese Bistro. 

Garage at The Main Hotel close to Saltine, Varia, Grain, Stockpot, Brothers, Hell’s Kitchen, Town Point Park, Selden Market, Slover Library.

Harrison Opera House Lot perfect parking for the NEON District. Use the spots in the corner by Virginia Beach Blvd. and Granby Street. 

MacArthur Center North and South Garages iconic and in the heart of everything. 

Main Street Garage close to the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, Slover Library, Selden Market and Waterside District. 

Scope Garage close to Buffalo Wild Wings, 456 Fish, Leone's, Baxters, Chrysler Hall and Perry Pavilion.

Town Point Garage and West Plume Street Garage close to Town Point Park, Nauticus, The Wisconsin, Hell’s Kitchen and The Main Hotel. 

Waterside Garage close to Waterside District and Town Point Park. 

York Street Garage close to the Freemason District and Omar’s Carriage House. 

On Street Parking 

Meters have a 2-hour limit and accept cash or cards. Meters in front of Waterside Drive have a 15 minute limit. 

Metered street parking is FREE daily after 6pm, Saturdays 9am-6pm and all day Sundays. Remember the 2-hour limit still applies. 

Electric Car Charging Stations are available in the Waterside, MacArthur Center, Bank Street and Town Point garages. 

No Car? No Problem.

The Elizabeth River Ferry is a fun and convenient way to travel between Portsmouth and Downtown. They even offer service to Harbor Park during Norfolk Tides games. Click here for schedule.
