With 11 storefront shops, rotating pop-ups and anchored by a few favorite local restaurants, Selden Market is the go to for the very best in small, local shopping. Here’s a few tips on how to spend your day shopping with us.
HIT AN EVENT
Follow the Selden Market Facebook Events page to stay up to date on workshops, evening events, and even upcoming pop-ups. But whatever you do, don’t miss the quarterly Vintage Sunday events hosted by KOR Vintage (our trendy in-house vintage shop) with over 30 vendors and a house full of the coolest vintage and retro finds. The next Vintage Sunday is March 7th.
You can’t shop on an empty stomach. We recommend the Iconic Duo of pancit and three crispy lumpia from Slide Thru #FAM for only $8. Wednesday night Ramen Night is the move at The Stockpot Norfolk from 11am-8:30pm. Stockpot has killer desserts, breakfast, and happy hour too. Grab breakfast at the Downtown staple, D’Egg diner Thursday-Sunday before our shops open. Chef Sydney Meers' highly anticipated and much-buzzed about new restaurant, Syd's FishPig Cafe, is also adjacent to Selden Market on Main Street. With eclectic decor and a uniquely unforgettable menu that is classic Syd, FishPig is sure to be a fast favorite of Downtowners and visitors alike.
No shopping trip is complete without a coffee in hand. Vessel Craft Coffee’s house roasted cold brew will do the trick. Order the secret menu Mint Chocolate Cold Brew, a Selden shop owner favorite. Need something a bit stronger, break for a beer or cocktails at The Stockpot, D’Egg, or Syd's.
SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISANS
Lorak Jewelry’s workshop is within their modern storefront where they create handcrafted jewelry including custom engagement rings and wedding bands to commemorate a lifetime of love. In addition to hand stitched wallets and bags, let Werther Leather Goods create a custom belt for you while you shop. Choose your leather, width and hardware and leave with a quality genuine leather belt made in Norfolk. And newer to the market, VA Goods features the best local products from makers and entrepreneurs across Virginia!
STYLE AND CLOTHES
If you're looking to upgrade your wardrobe, Selden Market has you covered. Find made-to-order women's styles at Gallagher, unique vintage finds at Kor Vintage, casual and contemporary goods for men and women at Bleubeing Studios, and the ultimate experience in intimate apparel at Petit a Petit.
DO NOT leave the market without a S’mores Amore brownie. Soft brownies and blondies with a graham cracker crust are topped with homemade marshmallow and toasted in front of your eyes making this a uniquely Downtown Norfolk dessert. Those with gluten free, keto and sugar free diets can rejoice-- Baked AF serves a variety of sweet and savory treats for those with special diets.
BRING HOME GOOD VIBES
Pure Lagos can brighten up your home with African art, pillows, blankets and even custom upholstered furniture. Follow their Instagram for news on upcoming art sales! Sugar & Grace Candle Co. can make your home a cozy oasis with the soft lights and luxury scents that their hand-poured soy candles provide — or brighted up your home with an arrangement from their DIY flower bar.
COME BACK OFTEN
With hundreds of rotating pop-ups on the Selden Market roster and short term leases for incubator businesses, each trip to Selden holds something new. Pop-ups are often posted on Selden Market’s Instagram story and feed.
