Must-order Dishes: We love the Shellfish Platter from the Raw Bar, with a dozen oysters, a dozen clams, 6 chilled shrimp, and lump crab. With it's Cajun & Creole influences, Big Easy/Norfolk Seafood Company is also a great place to try something you won't find just anywhere: why not try some Alligator Tacos or Crawfish Beignets?

Restaurant Highlights: Norfolk Seafood Company & Big Easy Oyster Bar is a unique bi-level restaurant: the downstairs has a more casual, speakeasy feel, while the upstairs has a more elegant dining room for a more intimate meal.

Must-order Dishes: The Scallop Risotto with white truffle oil is amazing and not something you see on every menu. We also love the Stripers Seafood Bowl, a tomato seafood broth filled with mussels, mahi-mahi, and shrimp, served with toasted dipping bread and rice.

Restaurant Highlights: The natural light combined with light grey, bright interiors inside Stripers is amazing, as is watching a beautiful sunset from the outdoor seating area.

Must-order Dishes: The Crab Stuffed Flounder is a fan-favorite, but we also love the Seafood Pasta, with fresh shrump and scallops in a white wine sauce. Mama's Crab Spring Rolls, filled with delicious crab meat and served with a sweet dipping sauce, is a great way to kick off your meal.

Restaurant Highlights: 456's beautiful dark wood interior and fun waterfall wall makes for a very romantic atmosphere.

Restaurant Highlights: Saltine is also home to Apothecary Bar, a beautiful cocktail and raw bar running through the middle of the restaurant. The mixologists here are known for whipping up incredible hand-crafted cocktails, focusing on flavor and using high quality ingredients.

Located in the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, southern-inspired seafood dishes with sweeping views of the Elizabeth River.

Must-order dishes: The Waterside's Signature Fried Seafood Platter is quite a feast with fried flounder, shrimp, a crab cake, hush puppies, and house remoulade. For something handheld, the Louisiana Shrimp Po Boy is our go-to: a toasted hoagie roll stuffed with cracker meal crusted fried jumbo shrimp, lettuce, tomto, and house remoulade.

Restaurant Highlights: The views of the Elizabeth River from the patio are breathtaking, making it a great place to enjoy one of Waterside Seafood Company's signature cocktails or wonderful desserts.

6. Shula's 347 Grill

Fresh seafood and hearty steaks located inside Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

Must-order Dishes: Start the meal off with Rhode Island Calamari, served with banana peppers and either a spicy tomato sauce or remoulade. We love the Shrimp & Grits, with red pepper, bacon, scallion, lemon, and shrimp reduction over cheddar grits; but you also can't go wrong with the Salmon, served either grilled or with a maple mustard glaze, with pomme puree and broccoli.

Restaurant Highlights: Fun fact: Shula's 347 Grill was named in honor of NFL Coach Don Shula's record 347 career victories. They also have a signature dessert: the Key Lime Pie, which is a great ending to any meal!

Must-order Dishes: For a meal that feels a little extra special, get the Lobster and Prosecco Gnocchi with Maine lobster, Prosecco, and sage butter tossed with potato gnocchi. The Seafood Cioppino is also fantastic and chock full of seafood, with scallops, clams, chef's fish, and calamari with celery and fennel seed simmered in a buttery saffron broth.

Restaurant Highlights: Luce is an absolute gem. It is an intimate, sophisticated place where you feel immensely cooler just having set foot inside. We suggest making reservations ahead of time, as Luce is a small restaurant that fills up fast.
